SuperUnit Launch : Group Experience: “Celebrations Launch” Field Trips: Music & Performing Arts Education (TBD) Guest Speakers: Senior Buddies and performers from Asia Music & Performing Arts Education (TBD) Core Values : Respect for All, Sense of Self, Balance in Life SuperUnit Project and Celebration: Second graders plan, prepare, and perform a celebration for their Senior Buddies to honor the seniors time at SSIS, and their friendship with second graders. Science: Light and sound waves SS: Investigating traditional events and celebrations to learn what makes them emotional and meaningful. English : Reading and exploring forms of poetry, and writing poetry. Reading fiction. Math: Geometry: exploring plane and solid shapes. Arrays: using arrays to make and solve repeated addition. Data and Graphing: Answering questions about graphs, gathering data, and building graphs. Art: Exploring Handmade papers and the Screen Printing process, which we will use to write our poems on for our departing Senior Buddies. Drama: Exploring the structures and orders of plays. Playwriting and character performances. Music: Listening to songs from different cultures while discussing traditional celebrations. We will be selecting music appropriate for our buddy celebration and practicing singing and performing choreography.
